Spiraea japonica ‘Goldflame’

Description:

Goldflame is a bright, cheerful spiraea that earns its place from spring right through summer. The foliage emerges in warm gold and coppery tones, then settles into a vivid yellow-green, and its topped in summer with clusters of pink flowers that are great for pollinators and add a softer contrast to the leaves.

Its a brilliant shrub for giving borders a lift especially when you need reliable colour without relying on flowers alone. It also works well in pots and smaller gardens because it stays fairly compact, and its very easy to combine with purples, blues and deeper greens.

Plant it in full sun for the best leaf colour (itll still grow in partial shade, just a bit less bright). Cut it back in early spring to encourage fresh, colourful new growth and a tidy shape for the season ahead.
