Spiraea ‘Arguta’

Description:

Spiraea Arguta is one of the best shrubs for that early-season white froth effect branches absolutely smothered in small white blossom, often just as spring is getting going. Its a real mood-lifter, and it looks especially good when planted where youll pass it often, because the detail of the flowers is properly charming up close.

Its a classic border shrub, useful in mixed planting, cottage gardens, and alongside spring bulbs. It also has a graceful, slightly arching habit, so it softens hard edges and works nicely near paths, lawn borders, or at the back of a bed where it can spill gently forward.

Grow it in sun or light shade in ordinary garden soil and it will be very undemanding. The main tip is pruning: if you need to shape it, do it straight after flowering, because it blooms on last years wood.
